ith the xEV cockpit, Berylls once again analyses the lead markets of e-mobility. A look at the previous year shows that e-mobility has hardly gained any ground worldwide. In 2019, only 2.3 million BEVs and PHEVs were registered globally.

This is hardly 5 percent more than in 2018, and the annual increases of up to 50 percent seem to be history. The xEV cockpit analyses the reasons for the overall poor performance of e-mobility, which is only well accepted in a few markets. In Germany and a few European markets, interest is increasing all the same – but still too slowly.
2020 is now threatened by a further setback for electricity companies. Even possible sales promotion measures to boost car sales after the pandemic have the potential to further slow down e-mobility, as the example of China shows. However, without additional state subsidies, e-mobility will have to accept a further setback in 2020 – in Germany, but also globally.
